About Dr. Mathew Pombo

Dr. Mathew Pombo is an orthopedic surgeon with extensive experience in youth and adult sports injuries, surgery of the shoulder and knee, sports medicine and the aging athlete. He is well known as a national/international leader in the field of soccer medicine. As a FIFA diplomat, Dr. Pombo is certified as a specialist in soccer medicine and injuries. His affiliations range from serving as a pool physician for the U.S. Soccer Federation to head team physician for several Atlanta area high schools and soccer clubs.

Dr. Pombo enjoys taking care of athletes of all ages and keeping them engaged in an active lifestyle no matter what sport or activity. A native of Atlanta and a graduate of Georgia Tech, he attended Medical College of Georgia only to graduate as one of the youngest members of his medical school class.

When not at work, Dr. Pombo enjoys spending time with his wife and two boys. Many of his patients also enjoy watching him succeed in his second career as a professional racecar driver where he can be found driving at racetracks across North America.
