Northside Hospital Orthopedic Institute (NHOI) works in collaboration with the Northside Hospital Cancer Institute (NHCI) to diagnose and treat tumors of the bone and musculoskeletal system including bone metastases, osteosarcomas, bone malignancies and pathologic fractures.
Dr. Nickolas Reimer and Dr. Don Beringer are board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons specializing in orthopedic oncology. Both work closely with the NHCI Bone and Soft Tissue Program. Northside Hospital is proud to have on staff two of the five Orthopedic Oncologists in the State. Their expertise and skills lead the market in care to oncology patients with musculoskeletal problems ranging in complexity from evaluation or biopsy, to advanced surgical interventions requiring specialized care. Their clinical practice focuses on primary joint replacement, as well as treatment of bone and soft tissue sarcomas, and benign bone and soft tissue tumors, in children and adults. They also treat metastatic disease affecting the musculoskeletal system. Since their practice often requires advanced, unconventional solutions to difficult problems, they also performs total joint replacement, complex reconstruction, and deformity correction surgery in non-oncologic patients.
